I remember seeing this garden extensively in a Nigerian movie and I kept asking myself if these guys were still in Nigeria. By the time you are done reading this, I hope like me, you’d be spurred to want to visit at least once. But first, what exactly is Agodi Gardens about?

Agodi Gardens is a major tourist attraction in Ibadan that doubles as a park and a zoological garden. The garden which sits at the foot of Old Mokola Hill was formerly called Agodi Zoological and Botanical Gardens and was created in 1967. It was destroyed by the Ogunpa flood disaster in 1980 leading to the loss of animals as they were swept away by the flood. Renovated by the Oyo State Government in 2012, it was re-opened for operations in 2014.

Located in a cool and calm environment, it has a luxuriant abundance of forestry and is a haven of natural beauty, which makes it a choice recreational facility for nature lovers. If you need a peaceful place to relax during the weekend or take a vacation away from the hustle and bustle of life, Agodi Gardens is where you should be.

It is a perfect spot for relaxing, networking, hanging out with family and friends and organizing outdoor social gatherings. Available facilities include a water park, a lake, zoo, boat rides, swimming pools, restaurant area etc. It also features a large paved picnic area with terraced lawn. The kids are not left out as there are various physical activities for them to engage in. Its scenic spots can also be used for photo sessions.

It is located at Parliament Road, Ibadan, Oyo State and is open Monday – Thursday 10 a.m to 8 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday 12 noon to 9 p.m.
