The Managing Director of Atlantic Exhibition, organizers of the Lagos fashion fair, Mr. Ayodeji Olugbade, made it known at a press briefing held at his office on Wednesday 11th, September 2019.
He announced that the fair promises to be a memorable fashion experience. This event is to be the seventh edition in Lagos.
Mr Olugbade said the event was put up to showcase the elegant nature of fashion within the African clime.
The event annually brings together the biggest names in the fashion and ready to wear space in Africa and other continents with Nigeria being the most populous country in Africa and the most populous black country in the world.
“There is an abundance of ideas and creativity from the traditional Adire, Dansiki, Kembe, Agbada, etc., hence the need to showcase and promote this creativity to the world. Having the greatest business opportunities, the event facilitates its exhibitors/visitors to meet with key industry professionals.”
Speaking about the major focus of the fair, Olugbade enthused, “our focus is on the business and the ability for every participant present to be able to tap into the chains of networks available to enrich and enhance their own businesses. It is not just about showcasing what you have alone but about connecting with people locally and internationally with the goal of networking and doing businesses together”.
Also speaking at the event, Miss Olivia Modisakerg, the marketing manager of Atlantic Exhibition said the essence of the fair was to bring in people from the international communities like China, Turkey and India to meet with talents in Nigeria and create a synergy between them.
“One unique thing about the Lagos Fashion Fair is the fact that CEOs from businesses in these countries will be present and on ground to attend to our designers and thus this will ease Nigerian designers present the stress of going overseas and spending money to meet them and as such impact on the designers positively,” she said.
Olugbade said the journey of the last six years had been tough there experience had not been bad.
“If we have not been doing well, we wouldn’t have continued with it. We have never missed a year in the last six years nor have we reduced the standard of the fair.
“For us to stage such exhibition at Eko Convention Centre, you should know that we mean serious business. We are security and quality conscious. The type of exhibition we organise is an international one whereby you may not get returns of your investment monetarily immediately but the level of networking you will gain far outweighs the money spent because the patronage of the contacts and people you’ll meet there is a continuous one,” she said.
Olugbade also added that although the turnout of event in the last six years was yet to meet their target, it had been worth the while.
Olugbade further stated that the fair was not limited to Nigeria as it had been done in countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroun, Mozambique and Republic of Congo.
According to Olugbade, the host company was known for organising quality exhibition that cut across locally and internationally.
He said that this year’s edition would not fall short.
He further enthused that it was a template for everyone who wanted to do something to increase their source of income as everyone who had something or anything to offer was welcome to participate in the exhibition.
The fair which is slated for September 25th to 27th 2019 at the Eko Convention Center, Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos will feature over 40 Nigerian and foreign exhibitors.
“This event offers an opportunity for designers, fashion retailers, fashion professionals, boutique owners, stylists, fashion enthusiasts, models, trendsetters and consumers to interact, network and build business relationships with our Nigerian and international exhibitors,” he said.
