2020 FIFA’s The Best Awards Ceremony Postponed
FIFA have decided to cancel The Best awards this year. The ceremony was due to take place September in Milan will no longer happen because of the coronavirus pandemic.
That means the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be up for the coveted The Best Men’s Player award, which will be left vacant.
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association, FIFA’s The Best awards ceremony, scheduled to be held in Milan on 21st of September, has been postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to world football’s governing body, it is unclear if or when the ceremony will be rearranged, with a spokesperson saying that “the consequences and different alternatives are being considered”.
The last edition saw Lionel Messi and Megan Rapinoe win the best male and female prizes last year.
The duo also took the honours at the 2019 Ballon d’Or.
