Total of 5,959 COVID-19 Cases in Nigeria as NCDC Reports 338 New Infections

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday night announced 338 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, raising the total number of infections to 5,959

Six patients have been confirmed dead to the virus in the last 24 hour, increasing the total number of fatalities to 182 in Nigeria.

While the number of patients recovered from the virus infection and discharged increased from 1,472 to 1,594 The agency made this known via its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov.

Lagos State remains the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria and it also reported the highest infection on Sunday with 177 cases.

According to the agency, 64 new cases of the virus were reported in Kano, 21 cases in Federal Capital Territory, 16 cases in Rivers, 14 cases in Plateau and Oyo reported 11 cases.

Katsina reported nine cases of the coronavirus, while Jigawa and Kaduna recorded four cases each, three cases each were found in Abia, Bauchi and Borno.

Also two cases each were reported in Gombe, Akwa-Ibom and Delta state. While Ondo, Kebbi and Sokoto had one case each.

On the 17th of May 2020, 338 new confirmed cases and 6 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
Till date, 5959 cases have been confirmed, 1594 cases have been discharged and 182 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
