Nigeria Records 5 More Deaths, 322 New COVID-19 Cases
The spread of novel Coronavirus infections in Nigeria continues on a daily basis, as Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Sunday announced 322 more positive cases of COVID-19 via its official Twitter handle.
The health agency added that Nigeria now has a total of 52,227 confirmed cases of COVID-19, out of which 38,945 have been discharged with 1002 others dead.
Giving a further update on the outbreak of the disease, the health agency noted that the new cases were reported in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Five people were confirmed dead within 24 hours, while 178 patients were discharged from various isolation centre.
Lagos reported the highest number of cases with 130 new infections, Bauchi confirmed 36 cases, FCT came third with 25 cases, while Edo, Bayelsa and Ogun recorded 17, 14 and 14 cases respectively.
Other states with new cases as follows: Oyo-14, Anambra-13, Kaduna-12, Ondo-11, Abia-10, Osun-6, Plateau-5, Kwara-5, Kano-4, Ebonyi-3, Sokoto-2 and Borno-1.
Nigeria has so far tested 378,023 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.
Making the disclosure via its website, the NCDC said on the 23rd of August 2020, 322 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
Till date, 52,227 cases have been confirmed, 38,945 cases have been discharged and 1002 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
