Nigeria Records 5 Deaths, 197 New COVID-19 Cases
The total confirmed COVID-19 infection cases in Nigeria reached 55,829 on Thursday with the additional 179 new cases announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
While the number of deaths rose from 1,070 to 1075, the number of discharge cases also increased by 200
According to the statistics released by NCDC on its verified Twitter handle, Plateau took the lead with 83 new cases, followed by Lagos with 48, Kaduna with 17 and FCT with 16 cases.
Other states affected by the virus on Tuesday include: Ogun (11), Katsina (7), Imo (4), Edo (3), Nasarawa (3), Rivers (2), Bayelsa (1), Oyo (1) and Osun (1)
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 433,206 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.
According to the health agency on September 10, 2020, 197 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
Till date, 55,829 cases have been confirmed, 43,810 cases have been discharged and 1075 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
