COVID-19: Nigeria Reports 201 New Virus Cases

Nigeria reported 201 new cases of COVID-19 Monday and no death linked to the disease caused by the novel coronavirus recorded, as the pandemic continued to strain hospitals across the nation.

That brings the official totals to 73,374 confirmed cases of the disease caused by the virus and 1,197 deaths.

224 COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from isolation centers, raising the number of successfully recovered patients to 66,314.

The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control(NCDC) disclosed this via it official Twitter handle.

The newly recorded COVID-19 cases were reported across 11 States. Kaduna reported the highest number of cases with 74, while Lagos confirmed 53 cases, Kastina had 40 cases and Rivers reported 11 ases.

Others state with new cases as follows: Plateau-9, Kwara-6, Bauchi-2, Ogun-2, Taraba-2, Edo-1 and Sokoto-1.

Nigeria has tested 848,194 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

In summary, the health agency noted that on the 14th of December 2020, 201 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria.
Till date, 73,374 cases have been confirmed, 66,314 cases have been discharged and 1,197 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
